During Regular Hours

We have an automated phone system to transfer your calls directly to the desk of the person who can help you. If you are referred to an answering machine, please don't be discouraged: It means the staff person is on another line, or temporarily away from her desk. The  answering machines have been installed to prevent you from being left on hold during our busy periods.

After Hours

Our answering machine will give you instructions on how to reach the doctor on call during off-hours. Instructions will be given on how to leave your phone number which will be sent to the after-hours contact. If your phone does not accept blocked calls you must push *87 on your phone to disable this feature which will allow us to return your emergency phone call.

What if a doctor or nurse does not return my after-hours message:

First call our office and leave your contact number again  - the after-hours person will change sometimes hourly. Second realize the physician may be returning another patient call and will be calling you next. Of course when it is an emergency you should call 911.

 Help Us Avoid Waiting Time

We've worked hard to eliminate waiting time for your office visits. You can help us avoid waiting time by always calling our office in the following situations:

  • Always call first before you bring over any sick or injured child

  • Always call first before you bring a sick sibling, even if your other child has an appointment

  • Always call first if you are running late, to insure that we can still accommodate your child in the doctor's schedule.

  • Avoid a no show fee by calling to cancel an appointment prior to your scheduled appointment. This will also allow us to accommodate any urgent sick visits.

Suggested Schedule of Times To Call The Nurse:

In an effort to DECREASE your phone waiting time, please use the following calling schedule depending on your child's needs:

Emergency Calls: 911 is always the best. Otherwise call immediately during regular hours and press 0. After hours, call the beeper number listed for a doctor or nurse to call you back.

Appointment needed that day for sick child: Call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. when possible. This will insure that your child is seen that morning, afternoon or other time that same day. Be ready to tell the nurse your child's temperature, weight, any medications with dosages, and type and duration of symptoms.

Advice needed for sick child: Call after 10:00 a.m. when possible. It is helpful to start your call with your child's name and age.

Information needed for feeding, immunizations or other routine questions: Try to make a list of these questions to ask the doctor at your child's next check-up. If these questions cannot wait, call between 1:30-3:00 p.m. or leave message for the nurse. Or visit our "Ask the Nurse" section on this website

Prescription refills: routine refills are to be requested at your child's annual well visit.

Lab test results: Leave a message on the nurses' answering machine. This will allow us to pull your child's chart and attempt to thoroughly answer your questions.
